Bingo terminology can describe a ticket, a winning target, an account balance or a payment process. This glossary explains those meanings in plain English, with the distinctions that matter when reading a lobby, rulebook or promotion. Use the alphabetic sections to find a word, then check the actual room’s definition where the term has more than one use.
The four casino promotions below apply to eligible slots and keno play. They are not verified bingo-room offers or confirmations of access for your account. Read the operator’s current conditions. We may earn commission through these links; see our affiliate disclosure.

How to use the bingo glossary
Open an alphabetic section to find a definition. Read it alongside the game or offer: a general meaning cannot settle account-specific conditions.
A–C: bingo terms
Show A–C definitions (14)
- Admission
- A charge or package needed to participate in a session or game. Check what it includes: admission does not necessarily mean every ticket, optional game or extra feature has already been paid for.
- Auto-buy
- A setting that purchases entries automatically according to the game’s options. It can create further spending. It is different from automatically marking numbers on tickets you already own; check future purchases before leaving a session.
- Auto-daub
- Automatic marking of qualifying called numbers on an entered card. The room’s settings determine its scope. It does not by itself establish that claims, withdrawals or purchases of future rounds are also automatic.
- Balance
- The amount displayed in an account or category of funds. A headline total may combine cash, restricted rewards or reserved amounts. Open the cashier’s breakdown rather than assuming the entire displayed balance is withdrawable.
- Bingo
- A game in which qualifying selected numbers or symbols are matched against an entered ticket to complete a stated target. The format, prize stages and claim conditions determine what counts as a valid win.
- Bingo board
- A phrase whose meaning depends on context. It can refer to a number display or a physical number-selection board in particular games. Check the instructions instead of assuming it means your personal playing ticket.
- Blackout
- A name commonly used for a full-card target, also called coverall. The game’s definition controls which positions must be completed. A partial line does not necessarily earn a separate prize during a blackout stage.
- Bonus balance
- Promotional funds or reward-derived amounts tracked under the offer’s conditions. They can have game, expiry or withdrawal restrictions. A bonus balance should not be treated as identical to cash merely because both appear in one account.
- Buy-in
- The amount required to enter a stated game or event. Check whether it buys one ticket, a bundle or another defined entry. A deposit funds an account; it is not automatically the same transaction as buying in.
- Call
- The announcement or display of a selected number or symbol. In conventional 75-ball bingo it commonly combines a letter and value, such as N-44. A nickname or repeated announcement does not create another selected value.
- Card
- The arrangement of positions evaluated for a bingo entry. It may also be called a ticket or face. One purchase can contain several cards, so check the quantity and which game each card belongs to.
- Cash balance
- Funds recorded in the account’s cash category rather than its restricted reward category. Check the cashier’s available-withdrawal figure and applicable checks; a cash label does not establish that a particular transfer has already been approved.
- Claim
- The action or system process that submits or recognizes a completed target for verification. Some rooms automate it; others specify an action and deadline. Marking a pattern and making a valid claim are different steps.
- Coverall
- A target requiring the full defined card to be completed. On a conventional 25-position card with a free center, that involves 24 numbered matches. Different layouts or special rules can change the target and count.

- Daub
- To mark a position corresponding to a qualifying call. A dauber or dabber is a marking tool in paper play. Online, marking can be manual or automatic; a mark alone does not establish a verified prize.
- Deposit
- Money transferred into a gaming account through an accepted funding route. Depositing is separate from purchasing tickets, accepting a bonus and withdrawing funds later. Check the amount credited, currency and any charges before using the balance.
- Draw
- The process or sequence through which a game’s numbers or symbols are selected. The selected value and its position in the sequence are different: call number fourteen need not select the value 14.
- Entry
- Participation in a specified game under its rules, often represented by a ticket. A card selected in a purchase preview may not yet be a confirmed entry. Check the order record and round identifier.
- Entry deadline
- The point after which an entry cannot join the stated round under its rules. A lobby may sell tickets for a future game while another draw is active, so confirm the start time and game identifier.
- Face
- An individual bingo-card layout evaluated for a target. The term helps distinguish separate cards within a sheet or package. A rule awarding a share per winning face can differ from a rule awarding per person.
- Fixed pattern
- A target using the specified arrangement and orientation. Rotations or reflections qualify only when the instructions allow them. A recognizable letter shape in another part of a card is not automatically the same fixed target.
- Free center
- A center position already satisfied where the card’s rules provide it. It contributes only to targets that include that position. It cannot replace a missing corner or another uncalled number elsewhere on the card.
- Free tickets
- Promotional or otherwise no-charge entries with their own conditions. They may be limited to a room, game, account or expiry period. Their face value and any prize won with them are not automatically withdrawable cash.
- Full house
- A phrase for completing a full ticket in relevant formats, notably traditional 90-ball play. Read the format’s definition and prize stage. Do not assume the number of required positions matches a five-by-five coverall card.
G–L: bingo terms
Show G–L definitions (7)
- Game ID
- The reference identifying a particular game or round. It helps connect a ticket, call history and result. Keep it when reporting a problem so support can investigate the exact event instead of another similarly named room.
- House
- In a bingo announcement, shorthand that may refer to a full-house claim or target. In other gambling language it can mean the operator. Read the sentence and format rather than assuming both meanings refer to a prize.
- Jackpot
- A special award governed by stated qualifying conditions. It can be separate from an ordinary round prize and may require a particular entry or completion within a call limit. The largest displayed total is not necessarily every winner’s payout.
- Late claim
- A claim made after the permitted point or window under the game’s rules. A completed screen pattern does not by itself resolve whether the claim was timely. Check the official record and the room’s stated process.
- Line
- A row, column or diagonal accepted as a target under the current rules. The word does not establish which directions qualify. Some games use a fixed line; others allow alternatives, and some stages do not award line prizes.
- Linked game
- A game connecting entries across more than one participating location, room or site under a defined arrangement. Check its rules for the draw and prize allocation. Different room names do not necessarily mean wholly separate competitions.
- Lobby
- The area used to browse rooms, formats, schedules and entry options. It summarizes choices rather than replacing the game rules. A displayed countdown or prize headline does not explain every condition attached to an entry.

- Mark
- The indication that a position has matched a qualifying call, often called a daub. Marks outside the current target do not fill gaps within it. A busy-looking card can still be missing a required winning position.
- Match
- A correspondence between a qualifying call and a position on a ticket. It is one part of completing a target, not automatically a prize. The same call can match one card and be absent from another.
- Maximum cashout
- A stated limit on an amount that may be withdrawn in a particular context, often a promotion. Read what the cap applies to. It is different from a payment method’s per-transfer limit or daily processing ceiling.
- Minimum withdrawal
- The smallest cashout request accepted under the applicable cashier rules. It does not describe the minimum deposit, ticket price or amount needed to win. Confirm the route, currency and any fees before comparing the figures.
- One away
- A description of a ticket missing one required matching number for a stated target. It does not make the number due or promise a win on the next call. Other tickets and prize conditions still matter.
- Pattern
- The set of positions that must be completed for a stated target. Read both the diagram and description, including orientation and alternatives. Counting all marks on a card is not the same as completing its required pattern.
- Payout
- An award or payment, depending on context. A game payout can mean a prize credited inside the account, while a banking discussion may mean money sent outward. Check which stage is being described before comparing payout times.
- Playthrough
- Qualifying wagering required by an offer before specified funds become withdrawable. Read the base amount, multiplier and game contributions. The required total is turnover, not a prediction of losses, profit or the amount you must deposit.
- Prize pool
- The stated amount available for allocation under a game or event’s rules. It may cover several awards or be shared among winners. Do not assume a total pool is the amount payable to each successful ticket.
- Progressive jackpot
- A jackpot whose amount changes through a defined accumulation arrangement until an award or other stated event. Check the qualification, contribution and reset rules. A growing total does not make your next ticket certain to win it.

- Random number generator (RNG)
- Software or another defined system used to generate random outcomes. Randomness does not mean a short sequence must look evenly balanced. Knowing earlier calls does not identify the next outcome of an unpredictable process.
- Rebuy
- A further entry or purchase where the game or event permits it. Check what is being bought and the price. A rebuy is additional participation, not an automatic restoration of money spent on an earlier unsuccessful entry.
- Reload bonus
- A promotion associated with a further qualifying deposit, typically for an existing account. It has its own eligibility and conditions. It should not be assumed to repeat a welcome offer or apply to every later deposit.
- Rollover
- A word with more than one use. In bonus terms it can refer to playthrough; in prize discussions it can mean an amount carried into a later event. Identify the context before doing a calculation or expecting a payment.
- Room
- A named area offering a particular bingo schedule, format or set of games. The room name alone does not establish its number pool, eligibility or prize rules. Open the relevant game information before selecting an entry.
- Round
- An individual unit of play defined by the game. A round can contain one target or multiple prize stages. Check when it starts and ends rather than assuming every prize notification begins a fresh draw.
- Session
- A period of play or a scheduled collection of games. It can include several purchases and results. A prize in one round does not describe the net outcome or total spending across the complete session.
- An award divided according to the stated tie or allocation rule. The unit might be winning tickets or eligible people. Check the number of qualifying entries and rounding rules before assuming how much one account will receive.
- Bingo-style play focused on entertainment, social features or virtual rewards. Check the product’s currency and redemption rules. A coin graphic or cash-like display does not by itself establish a right to withdraw real money.
- Strip
- A grouped set of tickets in formats using that arrangement. A conventional complete 90-ball strip contains six tickets covering the numbers 1–90 between them. Owning a strip does not guarantee being first to a prize target.

- Ticket
- An entry or card under the game’s terminology. It can be one item within a bundle, so check quantity, round and expiry. A purchased ticket is different from an unused promotional entitlement that still needs to be redeemed.
- Tie
- A situation where multiple entries qualify together under the game’s winning conditions. It does not necessarily mean the people clicked at the same instant. The rules determine verification, which entries count and how any shared award is allocated.
- Turnover
- The total qualifying stakes measured for a stated purpose. It is different from your deposit, current balance and net result. The amount credited toward a bonus requirement can differ from total stakes where contribution rates apply.
- Verification
- Checking an entry, result or account against applicable requirements. Game-win verification and account identity verification are separate processes. A verified pattern does not necessarily mean that a withdrawal request has passed every later account or payment check.
- Wagering requirements
- Conditions specifying qualifying play associated with an offer or balance. Read the full terms for the multiplier, base, contributions, expiry and restrictions. The phrase alone does not establish that every game or stake counts equally.
- Withdrawal
- A request or transfer moving eligible funds from a gaming account to an accepted destination. Review, release and receipt are separate stages. A prize notification or approved status does not by itself prove that money has reached a bank.
Read several terms together: a worked example
Suppose a fictional lobby says “four tickets for one draw; any horizontal line; shared prize per winning face.” That describes four entered cards in a defined game. The target accepts a complete horizontal row, while “per winning face” tells you the unit used to divide an award. It does not say each participant receives the entire advertised prize.
If the same screen mentions auto-daub, that explains marking rather than the price of the next round. If a promotion supplies those tickets, separate offer terms may govern their expiry and any resulting reward balance. Reading each term in context helps you identify which questions the headline has not answered.
For a complete learning route, use How to Play, then Bingo Rules. The pattern diagrams explain positions, and Numbers and Calls explains values and call counts. For money-related terms, use the bonus wagering guide and withdrawal guide.
Reference notes and limits of a general definition
These are original explanations of common bingo and account terms. Minnesota’s equipment standards illustrate the conventional card layout and use of “face,” while its conduct-of-bingo rules show why game-specific prize and verification wording matters. Local requirements do not establish the conditions or availability of a different online room.

Bingo terminology: frequently asked questions
Are a bingo card, ticket and face the same thing?
They can refer to the same individual layout or entry, but context matters. A purchase may contain several cards or faces, while a ticket can also describe an entitlement for a scheduled game. Check the quantity and the unit used in the rules, especially for shared prizes.
What is the difference between auto-buy and auto-daub?
Auto-buy purchases entries according to the selected options and can create more spending. Auto-daub marks qualifying called numbers on entered cards. They are different functions. Neither label alone establishes how claims are verified or whether future purchases have been canceled.
Does one away mean a bingo win is due?
No. It describes one required matching number still missing from a target. It does not make that number more likely to be called next or guarantee that your ticket will win ahead of others. The draw and the game’s remaining conditions still apply.
Does payout always mean money has reached my bank?
No. In a game description it may mean a prize credited to the gaming account. In banking it may describe a withdrawal being reviewed or sent. Ask whether the status refers to a game award, operator release or receipt at the destination account.
Is playthrough the amount I have to lose?
No. Playthrough measures qualifying stakes under an offer’s rules, not a predetermined loss. You need the stated base amount, multiplier and contribution rules to calculate it. Outcomes remain uncertain, and reaching a turnover requirement does not guarantee profit or a remaining withdrawable balance.
Does rollover always refer to bonus wagering?
No. It can describe a playthrough condition in promotion terms or an amount carried forward into a later prize event. Read the surrounding wording before interpreting the figure. The same word can have a different role in a cashier, offer or jackpot announcement.
Are full house and coverall interchangeable in every game?
They commonly describe completing the full defined ticket, but the layout and conditions can differ by format. A traditional 90-ball ticket and a five-by-five free-center card do not have the same number of numbered positions. Read the actual target rather than transferring a count between games.
Does this glossary override a bingo room’s terms?
No. It explains common meanings and distinctions so you can read the relevant instructions more confidently. The actual game, account and promotion conditions need their own review. If wording remains unclear or inconsistent, ask the operator to explain it before entering or accepting an offer.
